Bootloader Errors and USB Connection Problems
Resolving bootloader errors and USB connection problems during firmware updates
Problem description:
Users may encounter bootloader errors during firmware updates, or find that DivesoftCenter does not recognize Liberty units after failed updates.
Possible causes:
- Interrupted firmware update.
- Outdated or corrupted USB drivers.
- Mac/PC compatibility issues with Divesoft Center.
- Faulty USB dongle or cable.
Step-by-step troubleshooting:
- Restart the Liberty head and reconnect via USB.
- Remove both battery jumpers, disconnect the USB cable.
- Assemble first the USB adapter and the handset connector, connect whole assembly to the head.
- Insert battery jumper at the same side of the USB connector, then the other jumper.
- Try a different USB cable and port. Avoid hubs where possible.
- Reinstall DivesoftCenter.
- Attempt the update on a different computer (Windows preferred if Mac fails).
- If possible, retry firmware update via Bluetooth as an alternative.
When to contact service: If the device remains unrecognized or stuck in bootloader (HUD constantly indicating purple), contact your instructor or a closest Liberty service point.
