Can the He/O₂ analyzer measure 99% N₂ + 1% He for leak detection?
The He/O₂ analyzer can measure nitrogen–helium mixtures using Gas Purity mode. The achievable precision depends on correct configuration and stable gas flow.
Explanation
The He/O₂ analyzer is capable of measuring and displaying helium concentration in nitrogen–helium mixtures. When measuring synthetic mixtures such as 99% N₂ + 1% He, the analyzer must operate in Gas Purity mode.
Gas Purity mode is designed for binary mixtures composed of two known gases and is fully configurable.
The analyzer can measure helium with a precision of at least 0.1%. Display precision can be adjusted from 1 to 4 decimal places in:
Menu → Preferences → He precision
What to configure
In Gas Purity mode:
-
Set Gas 1 to helium
-
Set Gas 2 to nitrogen
Using the CAL button within Gas Purity mode, configure the physical constants for both gases:
-
Molar mass (g/mol)
-
Specific heat values:
-
Cp (J/mol·K)
-
Cv (J/mol·K)
-
Accurate gas constants are required for correct calculation.
Important measurement conditions
-
The analyzer requires a constant gas flow of approximately 0.2 L/min.
-
This can be achieved using a Divesoft Professional Flow Limiter connected to a pressure source above 10 bar.
-
Alternatively, a third-party gas sampling pump may be used.
Unstable or incorrect flow may significantly affect measurement precision.
The analyzer can also be configured to start directly in Gas Purity mode:
Menu → Preferences → Startup mode → Gas purity
