Device indicates depth when on the surface

Troubleshooting improbable dive depth readings in Freedom Computer

Issue:
The Divesoft Freedom dive computer shows depth while on the surface and cannot exit dive mode.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. If the Freedom indicates depths 0.2 to 1m below surface (1 to 3 feet), this may be caused by a combination of outdated firmware and entering the water without first powering on the Freedom. To resolve this, update the Freedom's firmware to the latest version and always power on the device before entering the water.
  2. If your Freedom enters dive mode when connecting or disconnecting the charger, this is expected, temporary behavior. Follow the correct charging procedure: connect the charging cable to the Freedom first, then connect the other end to the USB charger or PC.
  3. If the Freedom powers on unexpectedly, appears to start a dive while on the surface, or displays an unrealistic depth reading, please submit a new service request and return the device to your nearest authorized Divesoft service center.
